Family words and greetings

What do you call…?

English has 'uncle'; Punjabi has six, because it matters whose side and whose elder. A greeting carries faith and respect together: Sat Sri Akal among Sikhs, Assalam-o-alaikum among Muslims, Ram Ram or Namaste among Hindus, and on both sides an elder is touched on the feet or answered with jee. A guest is met with 'jee aayan nu', you are welcome, and is never let go without lassi or tea.
