Hockey
The game in which Punjabis from both sides of the border won Olympic gold for India and for Pakistan.
Punjabi players were at the heart of India's Olympic hockey teams; Balbir Singh Sr. won gold in 1948, 1952 and 1956, and scored five goals in the 1952 final. Jalandhar became the world's great centre for making hockey sticks.
After 1947 Pakistan's teams, largely from the western Punjab, won Olympic gold in 1960, 1968 and 1984.
