Partition refugee from Jhelum district who starred in Mother India and later led a peace march across Punjab in the 1980s.

Sunil Dutt was born in Khurd in Jhelum district and fled to India with his family in 1947, sheltered by a Muslim friend of his father. He became a radio announcer and then an actor, and starred in Mother India (1957), marrying his co-star Nargis.

In 1987, at the height of the violence in Punjab, he walked from Bombay to the Golden Temple in Amritsar on a march for peace. He later served as a minister in the Indian government.
