Daler Mehndi
The singer who made bhangra-pop the sound of 1990s India, with 'Bolo Ta Ra Ra' and 'Tunak Tunak Tun'.
Daler Mehndi trained in classical and devotional singing and burst out in 1995 with 'Bolo Ta Ra Ra', which sold in huge numbers. His big turbans, robes and dancing made him a star across India.
'Tunak Tunak Tun' (1998), with its video of four Daler Mehndis dancing in front of a blue screen, became one of the first Indian songs to go viral around the world.
