Bannu is a valley between the Kurram and Tochi rivers on the North-West Frontier, home of the Bannuchi Pashtuns.
The Sikhs brought it under Lahore's authority in the 1830s and sent expeditions to collect revenue. After 1846 the British officer Herbert Edwardes subdued it for the Lahore Durbar.
It is now a city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
