Bahauddin Zakariya's tomb, Multan

ਬਹਾਉੱਦੀਨ ਜ਼ਕਰੀਆ ਦਾ ਮਕਬਰਾ

Tomb in Multan fort of the saint who brought the Suhrawardi order of Sufis to South Asia.

Bahauddin Zakariya (about 1170 – 1262) studied in Baghdad and settled in Multan, where he founded the Suhrawardi order in India and made the city a centre of learning. Unlike the Chishtis he kept close to rulers and grew rich, using his wealth for his khanqah and the poor.

His square tomb with its white dome stands in the old fort beside that of his grandson, Shah Rukn-e-Alam.
