Bhagat Bhikhan

ਭਗਤ ਭੀਖਨبھگت بھیکھن

A Sufi of Uttar Pradesh whose two hymns describe the Name as medicine.

Bhikhan was a Sufi of the sixteenth century from the region of Kakori near Lucknow, sometimes identified with a disciple of Shaikh Hamid of that town.

His two hymns in the Guru Granth Sahib, in raga Sorath, describe old age, the failing eyes, the trembling body, and say that the Name of God is the only medicine, the jewel that cures every ill.

With Sheikh Farid, he is one of the Muslim voices in the Sikh scripture.
