Golra Sharif

ਗੋਲੜਾ ਸ਼ਰੀਫ਼

Shrine of Pir Meher Ali Shah, scholar and poet of the Chishti order, below the Margalla hills.

Pir Meher Ali Shah (1859 – 1937) was a Chishti scholar of Golra, near Rawalpindi, who wrote Punjabi and Persian poetry and argued against the Ahmadiyya movement.

His naat in Punjabi, 'Ajj sik mitran di vadheri ae', is one of the most loved devotional poems in the language. His shrine is a centre of learning and of qawwali.
