Bhagat Beni
Little is known of his life. His three hymns use the language of yoga to point beyond it.
Almost nothing is known of the life of Bhagat Beni, except what his hymns reveal: that he knew the ideas and language of hatha yoga well.
His three hymns in the Guru Granth Sahib use the yogi's vocabulary of breath, channels and the tenth door at the crown of the head, but turn it towards the Name: the real yoga is remembering God. One of them is a long description of the stages of a human life, from the womb to old age, each wasted in forgetting.
He is one of the reminders that the Gurus engaged seriously with the yogis of their time, as Guru Nanak did with the Naths at Achal and Gorakh Hatri.
