Achal Sahib

ਅਚਲ ਸਾਹਿਬ

Where Guru Nanak debated with Nath yogis at a Shivratri fair, a meeting recorded in his hymn Sidh Gosht.

Achal Sahib, near Batala, is where, at a Shivratri fair, Guru Nanak met the Nath yogis of the order of Gorakhnath and debated with them.

The yogis tried to impress him with miracles, and he replied that the only miracle was the Name. The debate is recorded in his long hymn Sidh Gosht in the Guru Granth Sahib.

Gurdwara Achal Sahib stands beside a Hindu temple to Kartikeya, and a fair is still held at the time of the old festival.
