Pir Budhu Shah
Sufi of Sadhaura who brought his sons and followers to fight for Guru Gobind Singh at Bhangani. Two of his sons died there; he was later killed by the governor of Sadhaura.
Badruddin Shah, called Budhu Shah, was born in 1647 at Sadhaura and became a respected Sufi of that town. He met Guru Gobind Singh at Paonta, was deeply impressed and became a friend and admirer of the Guru.
He recommended five hundred Pathan soldiers to the Guru's service; most of them deserted before the battle of Bhangani in 1688. Ashamed, Budhu Shah brought his four sons, his brother and seven hundred of his own followers to fight for the Guru. Two of his sons were killed in the battle.
The Guru gave him his comb with some of his hair still in it, and a turban; they were kept by his family and later by the Maharaja of Nabha. In 1704 Budhu Shah was executed by Usman Khan, the Mughal chief of Sadhaura, for helping the Guru. Banda Singh avenged him when he took Sadhaura in 1709.
