Kurukshetra
ਕੁਰੂਕਸ਼ੇਤਰکروکشیتر
Plain of the Mahabharata war. Guru Nanak and later Gurus visited during solar eclipse fairs.
Kurukshetra, in Haryana, is the plain where the Mahabharata war is said to have been fought, and one of the holiest places of Hinduism, with the great tank of Brahma Sarovar.
Guru Nanak came here at the time of a solar eclipse fair and, to the horror of the Brahmins, cooked meat, to show that ritual purity was meaningless. Several later Gurus also visited.
Gurdwara Sidh Bati marks Guru Nanak's visit.
