Armoured battle of December 1971 in the Shakargarh bulge.
The Basantar river runs through the Shakargarh bulge, a piece of Pakistani territory between Jammu and Indian Punjab.
In December 1971 a great tank battle was fought here. Arun Khetarpal, aged twenty-one, won the Param Vir Chakra.
The area is now quiet farmland along the border.
