Alif Allah, Jugni (Coke Studio)
Arif Lohar and Meesha Shafi's version of the old Jugni that made Coke Studio Pakistan famous across the world.
Arif Lohar, son of Alam Lohar, sang the Jugni his father had made famous, with Meesha Shafi, in the third season of Coke Studio Pakistan in 2010. The mix of chimta, dhol, folk singing and rock band became one of the most watched South Asian songs on the internet.
Coke Studio, from 2008, brought folk, Sufi and qawwali singers together with pop musicians, and gave Punjabi folk music a new audience on both sides of the border.
